DJ HDD is a 50 year old, tech loving, 20+ year veteran of the game. Time to get schooled.

DJ 1

It’s almost easy to forget, that the act of spinning records, mixing and blending them, and essentially rocking the crowd from behind turntables is not a new art form. The DJ, as we know it, has been around for well over 30 years. Even the technology is not new, it’s become much more advanced lately, but computers have been in the DJ booth for quite a while now, making it easier for many to get in the game. Point is, this is not solely a young man’s game, just take a listen.

DJ HDD, (that stands for Hickory Dickory Dock) got his start over 20 years ago, and was already a master at rocking turntables before embracing the digital era. He is now known for his off the wall mash up’s, eclectic choice of tunes and sounds, and his themed mixes, many of which have been picked up by outlets such as ABC Radio National (Australian Broadcasting Corp), the Solid Steel radio show, and more.

These days, DJ HDD can be found churning out more of his famed theme mixes featuring every genre under the sun and other things that don’t quite fit in a neat genre category, such as ambient noises we hear in our daily lives, like traffic. Don’t worry though, no traffic sounds in this Weekend Mix. For this edition, we are featuring a theme mix DJ HDD put together with tracks from Phunk Sinatra, Apache, James Brown, Queen, and more for his 50th birthday, and which he calls Phat, Phunky, & Phifty! One listen, and you'll quickly learn, age is nothing but a number, or at the very least, he can school you, new jack.
